Everything you might be wondering
What is Home Coming?
It's the campaign to bring the Kollel home. After 25 years without a home of its own, the Kollel is claiming the first two floors — about 10,000 square feet — of the new building at Broadway & Arbutus as its forever home. The goal is $6,000,000, built debt-free, by the whole community.
What does my gift do?
It claims square feet of the home. Every square foot is $600 — that’s $100 a month for six months, or a single gift. Your name becomes part of the house.
Am I buying real estate?
No. Your gift is a donation to the Kollel. “Owning” a square foot is symbolic — a real, visible piece of the future, not a legal property purchase. You’ll receive an official tax receipt.
Can I give monthly?
Yes. $100 a month for six months adds up to $600 — one square foot. Give more per month to claim more. You can also give all at once.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes — gifts are tax-deductible in Canada and we issue official receipts. Ohel Ya’akov Community Kollel, registered charity #891376121RR0001. [The exact receipt wording is being finalized with our accountant.]
Is there a matching gift?
Matching is still being confirmed. If a match is in place, we’ll announce it clearly on the campaign page. [TBC]
Can I dedicate a room or space?
Yes. From a seat in the Beit Midrash to naming the main hall, there are dedication opportunities at every level. Names, prices, and availability are being finalized with the developer’s floor plan — email info@thekollel.com and we’ll walk you through it.
Can I give by cheque or bank transfer?
Absolutely. Email info@thekollel.com or call (604) 738-7060 and we’ll arrange it.
Who is the Kollel?
Ohel Ya’akov Community Kollel — since 2000, under Rabbi Shmulik Yeshayahu, the warm and open heart of Jewish life in Vancouver: Torah for every level, Shabbat and holiday hospitality, and a table where there’s always another chair.
